“THEY’RE AT THE DUMP… I LIVE WITH THEM!”
Yura led Andriy through the poorest part of the city, far beyond the industrial district where abandoned warehouses and mountains of scrap metal stretched for miles.
The smell hit them long before they arrived.
Rotting garbage.
Smoke.
Burning plastic.
Children searched through piles of trash for bottles and scraps of metal they could sell.
Finally, Yura pointed toward an old shipping container hidden behind a stack of discarded tires.
“They’re inside.”
Andriy’s legs nearly gave out.
He pushed open the rusted metal door.
Two little girls looked up from a thin mattress.
They had the same dark hair.
The same gray eyes.
The same tiny birthmark behind the left ear.
“Alina…”
“Polina…”
His voice cracked.
The twins froze.
Then one of them whispered,
“Daddy?”
Andriy collapsed to his knees.
For several minutes, none of them could speak.
Finally, one of the girls hugged him tightly.
“We thought you stopped looking for us.”
He shook his head desperately.
“They told me you died.”
“They buried two bodies.”
The twins looked at each other.
“It wasn’t us.”
An elderly woman stepped from the shadows.
“I found them the night of the fire,” she explained.
“They were unconscious behind the building.”
“I called for help, but the men who started the fire came back.”
“They said powerful people wanted everyone to believe the girls were dead.”
“I ran.”
“I hid them.”
“I thought someone would eventually come looking.”
Andriy immediately called the police.
Within hours, detectives, forensic specialists, and prosecutors surrounded the dump.
DNA testing confirmed the impossible.
The girls were his daughters.
The bodies buried six months earlier belonged to two other children.
The fire had never been an accident.
It had been arranged to fake the deaths of the twins as part of a kidnapping tied to a multimillion-dollar inheritance dispute.
By sunrise, arrest warrants had been issued.
Several executives from Andriy’s own company—including a trusted business partner—were taken into custody.
They had hoped that by eliminating his heirs, they would eventually gain control of the family’s fortune.
Instead, the truth buried beneath six months of lies finally came to light.
That evening, Andriy carried both daughters into his home.
The mansion that had felt empty for half a year echoed once more with children’s laughter.
He looked at Yura, the boy who had changed everything.
“You saved my family.”
Yura lowered his eyes.
“I only told the truth.”
Andriy smiled.
“Then from today on…”
“…you’ll never have to live at the dump again.”
