Then she explained what she actually wanted going forward. They would maintain individual accounts and a shared household account, each contributing an agreed amount toward joint expenses. Personal purchases would remain personal. Family gifts would be credited honestly to whoever bought them, and Saturday meals would no longer automatically be Natalie’s responsibility. If Leo wanted to host his relatives every week, he could plan, shop, cook, or ask everyone to contribute.<\/p>\n

It wasn’t revenge.<\/p>\n

It was a budget.<\/p>\n

And Leo hated it because numbers couldn’t be manipulated as easily as family assumptions.<\/p>\n

The arrangement lasted six weeks.<\/p>\n

During that time, the Saturday tradition changed dramatically. The first week, Leo ordered food again. The second, Brenda brought a casserole. Evan arrived with drinks. Melissa brought dessert. By the fourth Saturday, everyone was contributing something.<\/p>\n
