Two nights later, Elena woke to barking.<\/p>\n
Not ordinary barking.<\/p>\n
It was deep, frantic, and continuous.<\/p>\n
She checked the clock.<\/p>\n
2:17 a.m.<\/p>\n
Camila was asleep beside her. Elena had started letting her daughter sleep in her room since the incident at Julian\u2019s house.<\/p>\n
She walked to the window.<\/p>\n
Across the dark stretch of trees, she could see a light behind Julian\u2019s property.<\/p>\n
Near the shed.<\/p>\n
