\u201cP.S. I felt so terrible, I ran after the mailman who picked this up in the box at the corner. I wanted to take this letter and burn it. I prayed that I could get it back. But it was too late.\u201d<\/p>\n
A few days later he received a letter from his father. It said,<\/p>\n
\u201cYour prayers were answered. Your letter never arrived!\u201d<\/p>\n

On the last day the departing manager tells him, \u201cI have left three numbered envelopes in the desk drawer. Open an envelope if you encounter a crisis you can\u2019t solve.\u201d<\/p>\n
Three months down the track there is major drama, everything goes wrong \u2013 the usual stuff \u2013 and the manager feels very threatened by it all.<\/p>\n
He remembers the parting words of his predecessor and opens the first envelope. The message inside says\u00a0\u201cBlame your predecessor!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n He does this and gets off the hook.<\/p>\n About half a year later, the company is experiencing a dip in sales, combined with serious product problems.<\/p>\n The manager quickly opens the second envelope. The message read,\u00a0\u201cReorganize!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n This he does, and the company quickly rebounds.<\/p>\n Three months later, at his next crisis, he opens the third envelope.<\/p>\n The message inside says\u00a0\u201cPrepare three envelopes\u2026\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n One night, the phone rings at the house of his parents.<\/p>\n Dad:<\/strong>\u00a0\u2018How\u2019s your life going, son?\u2019<\/p>\n Son:<\/strong>\u00a0\u2018It\u2019s going well, dad.\u2019<\/p>\n Dad:<\/strong>\u00a0\u2018Is something wrong? You don\u2019t sound happy.\u2019<\/p>\n Son:<\/strong>\u00a0\u2018No Dad, everything\u2019s fine. Berlin is wonderful, the people are nice and I really like it here.\u2019<\/p>\n Dad:<\/strong>\u00a0\u2018Son, tell me the truth. I know something\u2019s not right.\u2019<\/p>\n Son:<\/strong>\u00a0\u2018Well dad, to be honest, I am a bit ashamed to drive to my college with my pure-gold Ferrari 599GTB when all my teachers and many fellow students travel by train.\u2019<\/p>\n Dad:<\/strong>\u00a0\u2018My dear son, why didn\u2019t you say so earlier?
