Tears filled his eyes.<\/p>\n

He buried his face against my shoulder and cried harder than I’d ever seen a grown man cry.<\/p>\n
Months later, after many conversations and counseling sessions, Daniel finally visited his friend’s parents.<\/p>\n
He had avoided them for nearly three decades.<\/p>\n
The meeting lasted almost three hours.<\/p>\n
When he returned home, he was holding the bracelet in his hand.<\/p>\n
“What happened?” I asked.<\/p>\n
He smiled through tears.<\/p>\n
“They told me…”<\/p>\n

Daniel looked at the bracelet one last time before placing it inside a small wooden box.<\/p>\n
“I don’t need to wear it anymore.”<\/p>\n
