“I worked harder.”<\/p>\n

“I sacrificed promotions.”<\/p>\n

“I skipped vacations.”<\/p>\n

“So we could have this home.”<\/p>\n

She leaned forward.<\/p>\n

“And now you’re asking me to quit my career.”<\/p>\n

He crossed his arms.<\/p>\n

“My parents need help.”<\/p>\n

“I agree.”<\/p>\n

“They do.”<\/p>\n

“So let’s discuss your options.”<\/p>\n

She calmly held up one finger.<\/p>\n

“You move there.”<\/p>\n

A second finger.<\/p>\n

“We hire professional caregivers.”<\/p>\n

A third.<\/p>\n

“We rotate weekends between us.”<\/p>\n

Anton interrupted.<\/p>\n

“No.”<\/p>\n

“My job is here.”<\/p>\n

Tatiana smiled.<\/p>\n

“So is mine.”<\/p>\n

Silence filled the room.<\/p>\n

“You don’t understand.”<\/p>\n

“No,” she replied.<\/p>\n

“I understand perfectly.”<\/p>\n

“You don’t want to sacrifice your life.”<\/p>\n

She reached into another folder.<\/p>\n

“I also called your sister.”<\/p>\n

“My sister?”<\/p>\n

“Yes.”<\/p>\n

“The one you conveniently forgot to mention.”<\/p>\n

His face turned pale.<\/p>\n

“You spoke to Emily?”<\/p>\n

“I did.”<\/p>\n

“She had no idea your parents even needed daily care.”<\/p>\n

Anton looked trapped.<\/p>\n

“She lives closer than either of us.”<\/p>\n

“She works remotely.”<\/p>\n

“And she was shocked you never asked.”<\/p>\n

Tatiana quietly folded her hands.<\/p>\n

“So here’s what actually happened.”<\/p>\n

“You never wanted a family discussion.”<\/p>\n

“You wanted an order.”<\/p>\n
