“Twenty-three years ago,” Sara whispered, “Sophia found a baby crow lying on the side of the road after a storm.”<\/p>\n

“It had fallen from its nest.”<\/p>\n

“One wing was badly broken.”<\/p>\n

“Everyone told her to leave it.”<\/p>\n

“They said it would die anyway.”<\/p>\n

“But Sophia carried it home.”<\/p>\n

For nearly three months, she fed the little bird by hand.<\/p>\n

She wrapped its injured wing every morning.<\/p>\n

She even set an alarm during the night so it would never go hungry.<\/p>\n

“When it finally learned to fly,” Sara continued, “everyone assumed it would disappear.”<\/p>\n

“But it never did.”<\/p>\n

“Every evening, it returned to sit outside Sophia’s window.”<\/p>\n

Martin returned to the cemetery before sunrise the next morning.<\/p>\n

He waited quietly beside Sophia’s grave.<\/p>\n

Right on time…<\/p>\n

The crow landed.<\/p>\n

A local artist placed a small wooden bench beneath the old oak tree.<\/p>\n

But one thing never changed.<\/p>\n

Every sunrise…<\/p>\n

Before anyone else arrived…<\/p>\n

The crow always came first.<\/p>\n

Always carrying a single flower.<\/p>\n

Years later, when Martin retired, the town held a small ceremony in the cemetery.<\/p>\n

As everyone prepared to leave, a familiar shadow crossed the morning sky.<\/p>\n
