“If one baby has to be prioritized…”<\/p>\n
“…save the stronger one.”<\/p>\n
The doctor immediately interrupted him.<\/p>\n
“That’s not your decision.”<\/p>\n
Ryan lowered his voice.<\/p>\n
“I know.”<\/p>\n
“But my wife can’t survive losing both.”<\/p>\n
The nurse recording the video moved closer.<\/p>\n
The rest of the conversation became clearer.<\/p>\n
The doctor sighed.<\/p>\n
“Mr. Collins… both babies are alive right now.”<\/p>\n
“We’re doing everything we can.”<\/p>\n
Ryan covered his face with both hands.<\/p>\n
“Please…”<\/p>\n
“Just save them.”<\/p>\n

I sat frozen.<\/p>\n
Confused.<\/p>\n
That wasn’t what the nurse had implied.<\/p>\n
Just then, my phone vibrated again.<\/p>\n
A second message arrived.<\/p>\n
