Detective Ramos stepped toward the front of the chapel.<\/p>\n
“No one is under arrest,” he said. “Not yet. But we have several questions.”<\/p>\n
Grant forced a smile.<\/p>\n
“This is unbelievable. You’re disrupting our father’s funeral.”<\/p>\n
“No,” Miriam Cole replied. “You already did that.”<\/p>\n
She opened the leather file and removed a stack of documents.<\/p>\n
“Grant, you claimed your father signed a new will two days before his death.”<\/p>\n

“You also stated he was mentally competent.”<\/p>\n
“Absolutely.”<\/p>\n
She slid a medical report across the nearest pew.<\/p>\n
“According to his attending physician, your father had been heavily sedated for the previous four days and was physically incapable of signing legal documents without assistance.”<\/p>\n
Grant’s jaw tightened.<\/p>\n
Owen crossed his arms.<\/p>\n
“So?”<\/p>\n

Owen backed away.<\/p>\n
“This isn’t on me.”<\/p>\n
Grant stared at him.<\/p>\n
“What did you just say?”<\/p>\n
“You handled everything.”<\/p>\n
“You forged Dad’s signature!”<\/p>\n
“You held his hand while he signed!”<\/p>\n
The brothers who had stood together only minutes earlier were now accusing each other.<\/p>\n
Detective Ramos quietly nodded to his partner.<\/p>\n
Both men stepped forward.<\/p>\n
“Grant Harrison, Owen Harrison, you’re both being detained pending further investigation into the death of Richard Harrison, financial fraud, and evidence tampering.”<\/p>\n
Grant struggled.<\/p>\n
“This is because of her!”<\/p>\n
He pointed directly at me.<\/p>\n
