I just ran.<\/p>\n
The whole drive over, my hands were shaking on the steering wheel. My mind kept going to the worst places. Robin crying. Robin hurt. Robin alone.<\/p>\n
I kept telling myself to breathe.<\/p>\n

When I pulled into the school parking lot, I saw something\u2026 strange.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I wish nobody else here ever had to feel the way I felt yesterday.\u201d<\/p>\n

this wasn\u2019t punishment.<\/p>\n

The principal stepped forward slowly.<\/p>\n

She placed a brand-new jacket on the chair next to Robin.<\/p>\n

Within minutes, there was a pile forming.<\/p>\n
Clothes. Notes. Even a few envelopes.<\/p>\n

The principal stepped closer.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019ve raised an incredible young woman,\u201d he said quietly.<\/p>\n
I shook my head.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo,\u201d I replied. \u201cShe raised me too.\u201d<\/p>\n
That day didn\u2019t fix everything.<\/p>\n
We still had bills.<\/p>\n
Still had hard days ahead.<\/p>\n
But something changed.<\/p>\n
People saw us.<\/p>\n
