Donna took a breath.<\/p>\n

Silence filled the room.<\/p>\n
Robert felt something twist in his stomach.<\/p>\n
At that moment, the elevator doors downstairs opened.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis,\u201d Robert said, looking at his daughter, \u201cis Daniel Reed. He\u2019s the lead investor considering buying forty percent of this company.\u201d<\/p>\n
Emily blinked.<\/p>\n
The air felt thin.<\/p>\n
Daniel\u2019s voice was calm. The same calm from before.<\/p>\n
\u201cI like to know who I\u2019m partnering with,\u201d he said. \u201cNot just the numbers. The people.\u201d<\/p>\n
Emily\u2019s lips trembled.<\/p>\n
Robert didn\u2019t yell.<\/p>\n

Gasps rippled through the lobby.<\/p>\n
Emily lowered her head.<\/p>\n
Daniel extended his hand to Robert.<\/p>\n

Robert shook it firmly.<\/p>\n
