A silence fell, thick as smoke. Even the sound of fingers on keyboards stopped. From the main hallway, Nicu\u2019s fake laugh died mid-breath. Lorena felt her knees weaken, but she stood, straight-backed, like a woman trying to keep her crown from slipping.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2026 I wasn\u2019t informed that he\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHe doesn\u2019t need to inform anyone about his wife\u2019s visit,\u201d Valentina said. \u201cHe values discretion.\u201d<\/p>\n
