I woke up in the morning and noticed some strange white granules in my bed. At first, I thought my husband had eaten in bed again and spilled rice or something similar. I just wanted to shake them off, but something made me look closer.<\/p>\n
The more I looked, the more I felt a chill of fear. The granules were small, oval, shiny, and\u2026 I saw something moving inside one of them. I panicked and grabbed my phone to search for information. My heart stopped when I understood what they were. They turned out to be bedbug eggs.<\/p>\n
What I learned about them:<\/p>\n
Bedbug eggs are tiny, about 1 mm, white, oval, and shiny, resembling rice grains.<\/p>\n
Females lay them in hidden places: mattress seams, behind baseboards, cracks in furniture.<\/p>\n
After 6\u201310 days, larvae hatch from the eggs and begin to suck blood.<\/p>\n
Bedbugs don\u2019t transmit many diseases, but their bites cause itching, allergies, irritation, and insomnia.<\/p>\n
Where they come from:<\/p>\n
They can be accidentally brought in a suitcase after a trip.<\/p>\n
They can also come with second-hand furniture or other objects.<\/p>\n
They can even migrate from neighbors, through the ventilation system or wall cracks.<\/p>\n
How to get rid of them:<\/p>\n
Clean the house thoroughly, vacuum all cracks, seams, and crevices.<\/p>\n
Wash bed linen and clothes at at least 60 \u00b0C.<\/p>\n
Treat the mattress and furniture with steam.<\/p>\n
The safest way is to call a pest control company, otherwise the risk of reappearance is high.<\/p>\n
