The pews were filled with guests, buzzing with emotion as the ceremony drew near. The air smelled of freshly picked roses, and scattered whispers drifted through the crowd. At the altar, Thomas adjusted his tie, his palms damp and his heart racing wildly with love and anticipation for his bride-to-be, Emilia.

The bride’s entrance – When the organist struck the first chords of the wedding march, all eyes turned to the entrance. Emilia appeared, radiant in her ivory-white gown that flowed gracefully. Her father, eyes glistening with proud tears, guided her down the aisle. Thomas’s heart swelled with emotion. Yet as she drew nearer, his adoration slowly gave way to confusion.

A mysterious movement – Halfway down the aisle, Emilia’s dress rippled, as if a wave had passed through the fabric. Thomas blinked, thinking it was a trick of the light, but the movement continued. Guests murmured, straining to see more clearly. Emilia, serene and smiling, kept her gaze fixed on Thomas. The ripple grew more noticeable, and a guest nearby let out a startled cry that spread quickly. Thomas’s face turned pale, unable to grasp what was happening.

The source revealed – Emilia stopped, sensing the tension in the room. Her father whispered for her to keep walking, but she remained still. A faint rustling, like leaves stirred by the wind, came from under the dress. “Emilia!” Thomas called out, his voice heavy with worry. She met his gaze — a mix of surprise and amusement — and gently lifted the hem of her gown. From beneath the layers of tulle popped out the head of a tabby kitten. Its orange-and-white fur shimmered in the sunlight, and a timid meow slipped out.

The cathedral erupted with laughter. Emilia laughed too, embarrassed yet delighted. “I told you she was mischievous!” she exclaimed. The kitten was Muffin, the stray Emilia had rescued a few months earlier. Apparently, Muffin believed that no family event could be complete without her presence.

The ceremony resumes – Thomas bent down and scooped up the uninvited guest, overwhelmed with relief. With Muffin cuddled against Emilia’s chest, the ceremony carried on. Vows were spoken, rings exchanged, and the kitten nestled close to the bride’s heart — a tender symbol of love and the joyful surprises awaiting the newlyweds.

The afternoon sun streamed through the cathedral’s stained-glass windows, scattering colorful reflections across the marble floor.
