Finally, in a last-ditch effort, they took Johnny down and enrolled him in the local Catholic School.<\/p>\n<p>After the first day, little Johnny came home with a very serious look on his face. He didn\u2019t kiss his mother hello. Instead, he went straight to his room and started studying. Books and paper were spread out all over the room and Little Johnny was hard at work. His mother was amazed.<\/p>\n<p>She called him down to dinner and, to her shock and amazement, the minute he was done, he marched back to his room without a word and in no time he was back hitting the books as hard as before. This went on for some time, day after day, while the Mother tried to understand what had made all the difference. Finally, little Johnny brought home his report card. He quietly laid it on the table and went up to his room and hit the books.<\/p>\n<p>With great trepidation, his mom looked at it and, to her surprise, little Johnny had gotten an \u2018A\u2019 in Math. She could no longer contain her curiosity.<\/p>\n<p>She went to his room and said, \u201cSon, what was it? Was it the nuns?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Little Johnny looked at her and shook his head.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell then,\u201d She persisted, \u201cwas it the books, the discipline, the structure, the uniforms, WHAT was it??\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Little Johnny looked at her and said,\u00a0<strong>\u201cWell, on the first day of school, when I saw that guy nailed to the plus sign, I knew they weren\u2019t fooling around.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-18522 size-full td-animation-stack-type2-2\" src=\"https:\/\/teachmelife.b-cdn.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/w3.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/teachmelife.b-cdn.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/w3.jpg 400w, https:\/\/teachmelife.b-cdn.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/w3-300x233.jpg 300w\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"311\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>A somewhat advanced society has figured out how to package basic knowledge in pill form.<\/h2>\n<p>A student, needing some learning, goes to the pharmacy and asks what kind of knowledge pills are available.<\/p>\n<p>The pharmacist says: \u201cHere\u2019s a pill for English literature.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The student takes the pill and swallows it and has new knowledge about English literature.<br \/>\n\u201cWhat else do you have?\u201d asks the student.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell I have pills for art history, biology, and world history,\u201d replies the pharmacist.<\/p>\n<p>The student asks for these, and swallows them and has new knowledge about those subjects.<\/p>\n<p>Then the student asks: \u201cDo you have a pill for math?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The pharmacist says, \u201cWait just a moment,\u201d goes back to the storeroom, brings back a whopper of a pill, and plonks it on the counter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have to take that huge pill for math?\u201d inquires the student.<\/p>\n<p>The pharmacist replies, \u201cWell you know math always was a little hard to swallow.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Little Johnny was doing very badly in math.
