At first glance, the shape of the abdomen may suggest a very advanced pregnancy. Its unusual size could make many people wonder whether this is a multiple pregnancy, a medical condition, or simply the result of perspective and body positioning.

A Photograph Is Not Enough for a Diagnosis

It is important to point out that it is impossible to determine from the photograph alone whether the person is pregnant or what might explain the size of the abdomen.

In a real pregnancy, abdominal size can vary significantly from one person to another. The baby’s position, body type, number of fetuses, amount of amniotic fluid, and even the angle from which a photograph is taken can dramatically influence how large the belly appears.
