Kate Middleton And Melania Trump Spark Tense State Visit Moment
Donald and Melania Trump wrapped up a three day state visit to the UK and headed back to the US. It was only the second time a president has ever been invited twice for a state visit. Donald first came when Queen Elizabeth was still alive.
The trip had plenty of pomp and tight security. Prince William and Kate Middleton welcomed the Trumps to Windsor, and after a grand state banquet, Melania and Kate had a day together.

They visited Queen Mary’s Dolls House and the Royal Library at Windsor Castle. Then they went out to Frogmore Gardens, where they met kids from the Scouts Squirrels program and sat with them to make art.
Melania pressed leaves on paper and said: “This is beautiful!” Kate sat on the grass talking with the children about what they had made. A child even grabbed Melania’s hand and showed her the bug hotels they built.
Melania asked: “Show me how, what I should do,” and she also said her favorite bug was a “ladybug.” Kate brought sandwiches with honey from her family home at Anmer Hall, and Melania gave the children honey from the White House.
A royal commentator said the day gave Melania more “substance” and noted that people often focus on outfits. They said both women had done well supporting designers from their own countries.
Another expert noted how Melania looked tentative at first, but the children quickly broke the ice. They sat on her lap and drew with her, and she looked like she was enjoying it.

Still, there was one part that got attention. When Donald and Melania first arrived, William and Kate stopped to talk as King Charles and Queen Camilla came over. A body language expert said it was a tense moment between Kate and Melania.
The expert said: “As the ladies assemble for a chat, the most comfortable of the three appears to be Queen Camilla because her feet are placed slightly apart whereas both Catherine and Melania’s feet are close together.”
They added that Kate had her hands in front of her like she was being protective. Melania kept her hand tight in a fist which they said showed she might not have been fully at ease. The expert summed it up by saying she looked “like a fish out of water.”
