The rich boy turns pale when he sees a beggar identical to him

It was as if an invisible thread had tied them together at that very moment. His heart pounded so strongly that he could hear it in his ears.

Luca’s hand was rough, calloused from survival, but warm. Ashton held it firmly, almost afraid that if he let go, this strange miracle would vanish into thin air.

— Luca… where are your parents? he asked gently.

The boy lowered his eyes. His lips trembled before he muttered:

— I don’t know. I never had any.

The words pierced Ashton’s chest like a knife. Never had any? How could that be?

Before he could ask more, he heard his mother’s voice from behind, broken and trembling:

— Ashton… come here.

He turned and saw her pale as a sheet, tears running down her cheeks. She clutched a small silver locket in her hand, one Ashton had never seen before.

— Mother, what is going on? he asked, confused.

She opened the locket with trembling fingers. Inside were two tiny photographs, faded by time — two babies lying side by side, identical, sleeping peacefully.

— You… you both were born together, she whispered. Twins.

The room spun around Ashton. His breath caught in his throat. Twins? He had a brother… a brother who had lived on the streets while he had lived in luxury?

He staggered back, unable to process it.

Luca looked just as shocked, his small hands clenched into fists. His eyes darted between Ashton and their mother, confusion and pain painted across his face.

— You abandoned me? he suddenly cried, his voice breaking. — You left me to starve?

His mother collapsed onto her knees, sobbing uncontrollably.

— No… no, my boy. They told me you had died at birth. I never knew… I swear I never knew.

The words trembled in the air, heavy and suffocating. Ashton felt his own eyes burning with tears. He couldn’t believe it. His whole life had been built on a lie.

Luca’s chest rose and fell quickly, fury and despair wrestling inside him. He wanted to run, to scream, to disappear — but at the same time, a tiny spark of hope flickered in his heart.

Ashton stepped closer, ignoring his own tears, and grasped his brother’s shoulders.

— You’re not alone anymore, he said firmly. — Not ever again.

Luca’s lips quivered. For the first time in his life, he felt something he had only dreamed of — belonging.

Their mother crawled closer, reaching out her trembling hands, touching both of her sons as if afraid they might vanish.

— Forgive me… please forgive me, she whispered through sobs.

Silence filled the room, broken only by her weeping.

Then, slowly, Luca leaned forward. His head rested against Ashton’s chest. His shoulders shook as years of loneliness spilled out in tears. Ashton wrapped his arms around him, holding him tightly, as if promising the world would never take him away again.

For the first time, the three of them were together. Not broken, not lost, but whole.

Outside, the city kept moving, unaware of the miracle happening behind those walls. But for Ashton, for Luca, and for their mother, life had just begun anew — built not on wealth or poverty, but on the unbreakable bond of family.
