In the morning, in our yard, I noticed something strange. At first, it seemed to me that it was just a toy — too still, with an unusual pattern 🤔🤔

I went closer to take a better look. But suddenly… that “toy” started to move slowly. 😱😱

My heart stopped from fear. 😥 I quickly recorded a short video and, without thinking twice, I ran away from there. Later, when I was already safe, I decided to find out what it actually was. I posted the video on the internet and, when I found out what it was, I was horrified 😱 How lucky I was that nothing happened to me 😥 The details I tell in the first comment 👇👇

It turned out to be a Gaboon viper.

I truly thanked God that I left quickly, because if I had lingered even a little or tried to touch it, everything could have ended differently.

Who is the Gaboon viper?
The Gaboon viper (Bitis gabonica) is one of the most dangerous snakes in Africa and the heaviest of all venomous snake species in the world.

Thanks to its amazing camouflage, it blends perfectly with leaves and is almost impossible to notice.

Some chilling facts:

• Length — can reach up to 2 meters
• Weight — up to 8 kilograms
• Fangs — up to 5 centimeters, the longest of all snakes
• Venom — extremely powerful, destroys tissues and clots blood
• Behavior — usually calm and does not attack without reason, but if stepped on or disturbed, it reacts with a lightning-fast strike
• Prey — small mammals and birds, sometimes it swallows an entire porcupine or even a small antelope

Despite its frightening arsenal, the Gaboon viper rarely bites humans — usually only when accidentally disturbed. However, the chances of surviving without antidote are minimal.

So yes… I am not exaggerating when I say that this morning could have been my last.
