People at the airport noticed a woman in uniform lying on the floor

It turned out this was no ordinary dog. She was a service dog, the soldier’s partner. They had just been repatriated from a conflict zone, where they had spent eight exhausting months.

In the last three days before departure, the soldier hadn’t slept at all — dealing with paperwork, going through interrogations, waiting for approval to board.

He had held on as long as he could. And now, at the airport, with only a few hours left before the flight, he allowed himself for the first time to lie down. To sleep. Without fear. Without worry.

And his loyal dog — the only being he trusted completely — knew that as long as her master was asleep, no one was allowed to touch him.

When an airport employee, already informed, approached, he spoke calmly to the dog. He showed her his ID, slowly sat down, and held out his hand for her to sniff.

Only then did the German Shepherd slowly step aside, still keeping watch. They didn’t wake the soldier. They simply placed a protective cordon around them so no one would disturb him. And a passerby quietly left a bottle of water and a bag of food.

Two hours later, the young man woke up. He didn’t know that a crowd had gathered around, that some had even cried upon seeing the dog’s devotion. He simply stood up, patted the dog on the head, picked up his backpack — and walked toward the boarding gate.
